I am concerned how young people are treated by us old bastards when they come into our lair. I am trying to sharpen my senses to recognize the difference between ignorance and bad attitudes in the young or new. There is absolutly nothing wrong with being ignorant; it is not a nasty non-repairable condition to be in as long as it is not accompanied by a bad attitude. Stupid is the bad attitude and stupidity cannot be fixed. Ignorance is easily fixed.
I need to show more patience with the young or the new; the ignorant. I was once young and I am still ignorant of many things. I have an 11 year old neighbor boy who is mentally disabled who visits me almost everyday. I am indebted to him for all that he has given me. He has grounded and humbled me. I am thankful for the friendship. He hones my teaching skills. I am the biggest benifactor in this relationship.
I am going to make sure that I am more open to the young; to the new; to the ignorant.
