If there is anyone in Texas that knows something about the hawk problem here. I would appreciate any info. Are they bad year round or do they move on somewhere else in spring and summer? Thanks, Jim

Jim, I am in central Tx.and have red tails the year around but they seldom take a bird. The coopers here are a real problem. They show here in late sept. and leave about March.Sometimes I get hit by a bop that I cant id but rare.I lock down when first hit and then start testing the airways in late feb.Saw a cooper today. Hope this Helps Curtis

Jim, I am in North Central Tx, and only see redtails and coopers. This is my first year to fly birds, but from what I noticed the young coopers come in September and the older coopers a month or so later. The young coopers did not get any of my birds, but they would harass them. When older birds showed up, they did not miss often. I have had a couple of redtails come in for a look, but they just moved on. I am told that the coopers will be gone sometime in April. Flying once or twice a week and an hour before dark has worked for me this winter. I have only lost one bird(two weeks ago) since November. I lost a few other birds during that time, but they were flown earlier in the day. Hope this helps. Chad

Jim, I live in Arlington, probable a stones throw from you. The skys should be totaly clear by May, hopefully sooner. When I drive by DFW airport on my way to or from work, I always see at least 3 BOP on the light posts. I will let you know when they are gone.
