Are there still some that keep their kit boxes dark, and if so, does it help? Jerry

As far as i know, most roller guys prefer the dark kit boxes it helps to slow down the birds sex drive. This way you don't have hens laying eggs.

Jerry , I can darken mine in seconds, I prefere not to though and want my birds getting plenty of fresh air and light which means healthier , plus I always want my birds visual to me so that if one goes down in condition I can spot it.
I will darken it before a fly though to keep them on edge, other than that , no way.

I don't darken mine either except for the day before a fly, and only the kit box door, they still get light from the other side of the loft so it isn't "dark", they just can't see outside.
