I had a hen that stayed out one nite. She came in the next day,but was all puffed up and very lifeless when I saw her on the floor of the kitbox. Put her in a holding pen away from the other birds.I noticed that when I picked her up, she rattled. A little liquid (clear) can out of her mouth. So I tipped her upside down and about 2 tbl. spoons of this liquid came out of her mouth. The next day I found her dead. Can anyone please tell me that this might have been?

mate,
my guess is she drank some poisonous liquid when she was away from your loft cos that's a very nasty symptom. birds don't drop dead like that in a day...

How is your water jug in the kit box? I had a single bird die off very similar to that a few years back. Then another one a week later. Everything else looked healthy and fine. Then I realized I had not cleaned or changed the water jugs in too long and there was a scum in the bottom of it. Once I repalced the jug, no more trouble like that. Possibly your bird got weakened a bit by staying out and then got sick from something inside or outside the kit box.
