Kelly , my birds also start to show me something also at about 3 months, i also have noticed through the years that if there going to roll down they will do it also in the early months and after that --made in the shade, i hate with a passion to have late rolldowns , they justed wasted my time , so i'am glad if they do it- it will be early..
Later Kel........

I like birds that come into the roll earlier too. But one time I had a pair that threw babies that came into the roll at different age. In one year, I bred 6 of them out of just that one pair. The rec red siblings came into the roll sooner, they were hot at 2-3 months, then Dun bar and red bar siblings came at 4-5 months and were the best spinners. Then the two blue checks at 8-9 months, one was good and the other only did 3-5 ft rolls--it stayed that way.

well My old family used to come in 5-10 foots at about 2-3 months or so, but most of the birds turned out to be rolldowns so I got rid of them.

When you guys say the birds start rolling at 2 to 3 months, 8 months, 5 to 6 months etc., do you mean since they hatched or the amount of time they have flown?

Hi Swampfoxy,
Yeah I'm talking from birth.Hey!Last night,my oldest 06 bird from this english import hen I have(he's 3 1/2 months old)started making 40 footers, frequent and with control.Blew me away!!I thought he was gonna bump 'cause he kept dissapearing behind the neighbours houses in a roll, but man,he kept coming up into the kit.All the other ones are less developed than him so weren't rolling much and he had a little difficulty catching up.O.K.,tonight he shortened his depth alot, but still, lots of fun to watch sittin on the roof with a Cuba Libre. It's a riot to watch these birds mature from eggs to potential champs eh!

Kelly, wait until his first moult. If he continues with control, then most likely you got yourself a good bird, if he don't then he is not holding up and will become a disappointment.
