Sid,
Go buy an 8 foot furring strip(1x2)and an 8 foot 1x4. Cut the 1x4 in three pieces at 32 inches each. Make an I beam. Cut the furring strip around the bottom of the I beam to make a tray. Caulk it in and paint with latex. Will feed 22 birds.
