Do you want a bigger keel or a smaller keel? If I am right you want a roller to be weaker.

I recently saw a nature show that says the bigger the keel the stronger it is because the body has more area where muscle can attach there for a stronger bird. So you don't want a big keel right, wrong. More people say that deeper keel rollers roll deeper.

So that means a roller beats its wings during the roll. It also means that you want a stronger roller right? So would you want a weaker roller with a strong mind or a strong roller with a weaker mind? Any comments if i am wrong.

Just me thinking out loud

Depth is a component of character. In my opinion, it really doesn't have anything to do with keel shape or size. I've seen quite large rollers roll just as deep as one with shallow, small keels.

MR JX, I have seen all type of keel rollers spin or roll fast at all depths. You difinatley do not want a weak bird in general, a strong mind - a strong bird being bouyant is ideal..... R-LUNA
