I have only a limited number of hens to choose from for my breeding program.(3 to be exact). I have Hardesty/Roe birds now. Would it be ok to bring in Hens from other families or would I be creating problems?? Iam very confussed about mixing families. Is it okay to mix families?? I cant seem to find anyone out their who has any EXTRA hens of my family. Could someone shed some light on my delima about mixing families. Thanks I know I can count on getting straightened out with my delima.....

Paul,
You can get some birds from a different family and use them as pumpers. You can keep all of your birds pure that way. Breed back after 2-3 years of using pumpers.

Paul,

Give me a call and lets see if I can set you up with Jim Hall from Mailan so you can get some Hardesty/Roe hens from his held over kit b4 breeding season. You never know...Or if you wish, I have couple Jaconette hens I would be able to give you. Hardesty/Roe birds are based on the Jacs.
