If there old enought and hot for each other. They should lay in about 10 days. If they dont lay with in 3 weeks id switch them with an other mate. But i have a 6 year old hen takes about 4 weeks for her to lay her 1st egg, Then shes like clock work the rest of the breeding season

Bundee,
I had a pair that went 17 days. I was going out to re-pair them. when I lifted the hen from the nest , there was an egg. Three weeks is a bit long though. Are the birds getting some DIRECT sunlight or an exercise pen?

Bundee,
Do you have your birds on lights?
I start my birds on l2 hours a day of light for 2 weeks before I pair them up. Then keep them on 12 hours of light throughout the breeding season. I have my breeder loft wired, but have used trouble lights in the past.

Bundee, these two either don't like each other or they're unhealthy. Some stubborn hens just won't readily "take" to a particular cock bird. This is rare. If the two seem otherwise healthy, access to direct sunlight, as well as longer hours of "light" can help.
