Hey guys...
Have any of you noticed that some of your birds eat according to their dietary needs or circumstance?
In other words, during the molt eating more peas, breeding hens targeting peas and pellets before the first eggs are laid, breeders seeking out salt, grit to provide calcium they know is needed etc...?
I've watched this over the years and I'm always amazed at seeing a kit bird suddenly target certain grains after being stocked, as if they know it's time to get the diet together!
I find it interesting to see how nature takes over with these little birds.

Big Al,
My kitbirds would eat a handful of jelly beans if I threw them in the bowls and whistled.I have whistled to my birds since hatching. When I whistle I can hear them jostling in the kitbox getting in position on the floor. I am on a 7/3 rotation. It is because I have so many young birds of different ages I need to whip them in shape for the W/C. I feed milo, three days, milo/light mix, four days then 17% mix on the off days.
They do eat different seeds though I have noticed this as well.
