dose it matter if the rollers are mix with hens and cocks or is it better to split them

I split them just to keep the preasure off the hens. My hens usually perform better then my cocks anyway. As far as I am concern the cock birds are close to being useless except in my breeder loft.

Hens are usually dominate in the air and thier side of the genetic pool is the force in my breeder loft.

I breed cocks and hens that are approx. the same size, They are equal in the air. I dont breed with the smaller cocks, only fly them.

I believe the reason birds are seperated for fall and winter is to rest the the birds. Rested birds are more likely to survie the winter and be more disease resistant. Moulting happens late summer early fall. This also stresses birds. Then before spring you can do preventive meds. shots and worming so birds are rested and ready to be pair up the way you choose
