I've given this a lot of thought in the past, if I couldn't pick up the right birds of the blood that I have now, I would look towards say Joe Borges or Ken Easly. The birds I have now go back the towards Joe's many years ago. Another is Jay Starly out of Utah Ken Easly's birds are just a different branch off of the same tree I would also look at Don Oullete All of these guys are pure hardcore fliers with no other agenda's as far as the birds go.

dmitch, what is to stop you from getting the birds from anyone now? Just curious. I wouldn't change the direction I am going with birds from another source. If the question was more in line like what Scott was saying. If due to some catastrophe I had to start all over again and couldn't get any of my stuff back, I would probably go to these guys first 1.Robert Parker 2.Rick Mee 3.Abel Ibarra 4.some clown in Valley Springs

Scott, Same here I think I would try and get a kit from Jay and work with what he sent me. I have heard a lot of good stuff from the Starley Loft. I might even give Dave Szabatura or Jim Sping a call. These guys are also a compt. flyer. I would have said you and Kenny but I have already bummed my limit. I would feel like a total idiot to ask for more if I lost what I have already got from you. Guys you need to find a familt that works for you and your conditioning method. because not all families work with certain conditioning method. Just like a topic a while back. The Hardesty/Roe birds are not for a beginner. They are very touchy with there feeding and flying. That is one of the reasons I looked for something else when I lost most of my birds. Because I know they had the goods. I seen it before and had them doing it myself. but never could get them to be there best on fly day. I had them since 94 and still let Joe and Carl down on fly day. So I hope I can do some good with these new birds. Brian

Hey Brian M crap happens !!!!! I told you the other day what I will "happily" do this Fall.
Brian Mc , stay away from those Valley Springs clowns !!!!!! LOL Brian I had a pretty good fly yesterday for State, gave you boys a little something that you will have to work for. Joe borges kit is starting to look like a mature kit of birds, he had 202 or so. Joe Emberton had 235 or so and I havn't heard from Don Oullete yet. Three others bombed

Aloha,I tried getting my hands on some of Ken Easelys birds,a few years back on the NBRC auction site,I thought I had it,then the auction was extended another month or so and it got to pricy after that.I've done alittle work with Oulettes BORGES/KISER,3-bird family, but our clubs former President, traded his birds for a truck,so I gave him what I had bred and he is working with them now.If I were to aquire birds they would be from Dave Henderson,Tony Chavarria,or from reputable sources of Tom Hatchers birds,Tom called me a couple months ago and he's out of birds, because of his health.I worked with Toms the longest, then Tonys and now Daves.I had them mixed for a while but I've remodeled my lofts and the 3 families fly seperate,it was well worth the time and effort.ALOHA,Todd

Gotcha Dmitch, thanks for the clarification :)
Scott, so what was your score you old fogey. By the way, I meant the Valley Springs Pet Shop since I know that is where all those good birds you loose all the time wind up..LOL. My old birds are shit city right now so I don't expect much. My fault as I have been ignoring them too much trying to fly all of these young kits. My oldest young bird team is doing better so I'll probably just fly them instead. I think we fly next weekend. Brian. PS--What did you say about this fall? I was probably sleeping while you were rambling about screwing up your kit in the regionals..LOL.

Rick Mee or Joe Urbon...........I don't know Rick Mee, but I do know Joe Urbon and he has never given or sold any birds that did not make the new owners kits better. Probably the same could be said about Dave Henderson (they are clones of each other....LOL)

Well.Since I have birds from 8 different families it makes my choices easier.LOL.Each family of birds have something I like in them.If I had to start over and knowing what I do about these families I would choose birds from James Turner or Tony Roberts.Overall these birds suit what I like best. There is several other birds I would love to try in the future.Brian McCormicks Black Elvis family,Scott Campbells family,Ken Easley & Rick Mee,& last but not least Henry Cook.Oh.I forgot Ellis McDonald. So you see where my goals are.LOL. David

Todd I think that you are going full circle with the Hendersons, Dave's foundation hen was bred by Joe Kiser, not sure about what else.
I think that one of the biggest problems that some have is wanting instant success , and is why people move through so many families. No matter what the family it takes work to breed any type of reliable percentages. Just my opinion Scott

Todd that last point wasn't geared towards you, because another problem is you have to get the "right" bird or birds out of the family that you want to work with. You can get a few birds out of the top lofts in the country and still not have the right bird or birds to work with , it is rare that you can get your hands on a "true proven" breeder pair so you have to find them on your own and this takes time. Also if you are getting a particular family of birds that is through someone other than who developed that family are you getting a true representation of that family ? ( I saw and add for opal White bar Neibles once)no such thing !! just one example No matter what family it is there is no instant success, The most that you can hope for is some stepping stone's that can take you in the right direction, then it up to the fancier to work from there. Just my opinion Scott
