User Profile
8-1-09 I am 50 year old native Las Vegan. I am married to my soul mate Lynette for 20 years. My son Richard is 18 and is very knowledgable when it comes to genetics and color genetics. He learned alot from Randy Gibson and the late Doug Brown. He leaves for Hawaii for college in 2 weeks(8-14-09) so he will be part of the Hawaiian Roller group for the next 4 years. I have had rollers for 15 years now. I have Doug Ouellette, Don Ouellette, Tim Decker, Willie Wright, and some Randy Gibson birds that I am working with. My Almond family goes back to a Hugo Blaas Cock and a James Turner hen. I started out knowing zero about rollers and never saw a kit fly. I just had some tumblers when I was a kid and then decides to get some pigeons one day. I bought some show rollers and some Birmingham rollers from the want ads. It was just by coincidence that the bird section said rollers so that's what I got as I wasn't looking for any particular type of pigeon at the time. Long story short- the real rollers I bought were on loan to this guy by Doug Ouellette. One bird had a Hugo Blaas band with his phone #. I called Hugo and he hooked me up with Doug. That is how I found out the birds were sold out from under Doug. Doug and I became friends and I got some more pairs from him, and then some birds bred by Don Ouellette out of his World Cup winning team that Guil Rand judged with I believe a 1.7 quality multiplier. I met Randy Gibson at the Pensom Memorial show in Pomona in 1995. We have been good friends every since and visit each other several times a year. Randy is a great guy with great knowledge. I owe alot to him for where I am at with the rollers, as well as Doug and Don Ouellette. I and my son have qualified for the World Cup and Fall Fly 4 times. In the Fall Fly I placed 13th in the 11 bird, my son placed 16th in the 20 bird, and this year I placed 28th in the World Cup. Rollers have became a way of life for me. I try to fly birds every morning and I hit the lawn shows in Southern Cal. when I can. I need to expand my travels to Northern Calif., Utah, and the rest of the roller world! Visitors are always welcome at Mac's Rollers loft and the Macauley family household. Call me anytime (702)348-8200 or 638-0915. Or email me at macsrollers@yahoo.com. Good birds aren't always easy to come by, good friends are even harder to come by! I am always striving to be the best friend I can to the good people and do the best I can with the good birds I have! Hope to hear from you soon. Enjoy your next fly! Thanks, Don M.
