I had a chick hatch in my hand this morning!!
One egg hatched yesterday and I was checking to see if the other one had hatched. I stuck my hand in to feel the egg and felt the other shell capped over the remaining egg. I took it out of the nest and the new chick had already perforated the eggshell and was pushing his way into the world. I didnt want to put it back in the nestbowl for fear of getting him upside down and killing the chick. I made a cup of my hands and watched as he emerged from the egg. In a few minutes he was out!!
I pulled the hen off the nest and set the hatchling back in the nest with half of the shell. I stepped out of the pen and watched the hen remove the shell and settle back down on both of the chicks.
Probably one of the coolest things I have seen since I got back into birds.

Thats awesome. I've actually done the same thing with a young homer a few years back. Its amazing to watch them push their little bodies out of the shell. I'm glad you didn't loose the little guy. Best of luck.
