What can anybody say about the side effects and what to watch for when vaccinating birds with Sal-bac for parathyroid, Will it cause the birds act sick for awhile. And is the cost of the vaccine worth the effort.

Lew...First thing I did was treat all the breeders and kit birds with (Avian Powder & Solution). Judd's pigeon supply sell it,It kills the bacteria and I saw a difference the second day. Treated them for 7 day's,Then vaccinated all the breeders and kit birds.I did not use Sal Bac by its self.JDA Jedds 1-800-659-5928.

Lew... Avian powder goes on the feed, Avian liquid goes in the drinking water. I used both of them then I gave them the shot of Sal Bac after the seven days on Avian.Paratyphoid is gone and raising youngsters again. No second shot but I have it on hand with avian.JDA

JDA you must feel you received good protection with only the one shot, the directions says to give a 2nd after 15 days, but I can see if you was given them some other type of meds first, was you given the VBG AVIAN POWDER from jedds. I think doing it your way would be easier on the bird, it was the 2nd shot that hit them hard. How did your birds act after you gave them their shot of sal-bac?

Lew....Like I said I gave them both Avian powder and solution first for 7 days and they all turned around and no more young dieing after hatching. Then I gave them all a shot of sal bac, just for follow up.I have another vial of sal bac but things are back to normal.Have you treated with anything other than sal bac?I would strongly recommend following what I did if you have Paratyphoid in your birds.JDA

Does anyone know what the reactions to the sal-bac should or could be. Is it unsafe to use with other medications or shortly after giving other medications such as amoxicillin or baytril?
