I stood under my kits (2) and watched both score zeros in either the NBRC of WC (can't remember which). Is it more "honorable" to do that or commit to an action to DQ them? I have always felt the DQ was better than a zero. Less to explain over and over and definitely less embarrassing.

Nick..maybe that is the difference and why I could really care less about such trivial things and differences between a zero and a DQ...I have never been on the bottom of a finals fly before .. I think I won't get sloppy and let it happen again so that you guys can feed on each other instead LOL

Good thing you scorer two Zeros in those fly's, just think...if you would have got a couple of DQ.... you would have wet your pants.

A zero says your birds flew the time and that is something many kits fail to do. Many kits DQ because they fly less than 15 minutes.
A DQ means the kit was disqualified and we have explicit examples what calls for the kit to be disqualified. I find no examples in the fly rules, that gives anyone the idea, that if the kit stinks or if the judge is running behind,, the flyer may tell the judge to take his birds off the clock and give him a DQ.
For me, a DQ is the last thing I want on my score sheet, others here feel a low score or a ZERO is worse. The fact is , you pay your money, If you are lucky, your kit earns you a qualifier position and you take your chances.
The end of this story is the fact that it is what you do with that chance in the finals is up to the flyer, his birds, the weather, the BOPS , his luck, and the knowledge and ability of the judge.
Scott had a kit split in two kits and because of the out bird rule , that would keep his kit from scoring but it was NOT an offense that should require the judge to DQ his kit. Scott made the choice to not waste the judges time and send the judge off to the next kit. Different strokes for different folks.
