A fancier once told me that the birds in the kit box that looks the ugliest are the better performers. How many of you guys have birds that look like crap in your kit box that perform really well?

i guess it depends on your definition of ugly. i've noticed that the feathers on some of my better birds seem a bit thrashed, but i don't know if that's a good sign or not.

I would guess the hard feathered birds are the so called ugly ones.

I won't go so far as to use the word ugly, but torn up feathers and worn seems to be about par for those harder workers.

Sorry fellas let me rephrase. Birds that have feathers that are worn down and out of place after working hard. I'm sure you guys know what I am trying to say.

I had a bird I named the "Runt". He was real small (2/3 size of normal)black and cawed like a crow, but he rolled his ass off (tight, fast & deep) right up until the time a falcon had him for lunch.
