Most of us on this board are aware that Prof. LaRon Doucet has been writing a book about the original Pensom imports.
He has finally finished it and is making it available to all roller fanciers.
For anyone who raises, or are interested in "Pensom Rollers," which were originally brought over to America by William H. Pensom, this book is a must read and a great appendage to W. H. Pensom's book " The Birmingham Roller "
LaRon is the president of the " Flying Pensom Roller Club " and probably the biggest booster of the Pensom strain of rollers in the U.S.A.
The book is a great addition for any "Pigeon Library" and available from LaRon at:

I just received the book and found it very interesting, as I raise the Pensom strain myself.
It is 73 pages of pensom history, including:
-- some well known fanciers
-- "the hole" explained
-- the true Black Country Roller
-- velocity and style
-- novices purchasing stock
-- the 1965 imports
-- breeding
-- culling
-- a modern day Pensom
-- and other pieces and bits including lots of pictures including some rare ones of W. Pensom, and an excellent interview of LaRon by Tony Chavarria

I'm happy to include it in my personal library of roller books.
As you are aware, there are not a lot of roller books available at ANY price out there.

All - Sorry for not responding but my mother has been in ICU for 2 weeks. It is very hard seeing a mother suffer. For those of you who are believers in Christ our Saviour please pray for my mom to get well soon.
I also wanted to add that Tony will also be taken orders for the book on his site also.
Those of you in Los Angeles who visit LA breeders can also pick it up there also.

Hey LaRon, really sorry to hear about your mom. I will be praying for her, you and your family.

I just received my copy of LaRon's new book. It has a lot of very interesting roller history that I hadn't heard before, focusing on the "Pensom Rollers" and how they came to be known by that name.
He also hammers home the standard of the true Birmingham Roller, leaving no doubt what the bird is supposed to be. Some great pictures too..!!

All - The book is not the detailed historical portion but and introduction to the history and the concepts of the standard as stated. The historical detailed section is coming soon and thanks to all!
