I was reading an archive of the Roller Journal (Hall of Fame) and noticed in the April 2000 edition a Yellow Mottle hen 1997-666 bred by Ron Moon.

#666 was flown in Ron's 1998 World Cup regional kit out of John Johnson stock and she carries the excellent body type John's birds are known for.

World Cup Judge John Hawxby say this hen peel off some 20ft-40ft spins during the competition, proving that you don't have to be ugly and "non-colored" to roll.

....well anyway

I just wanted to know if any of you out there ever heard of #666 Yellow Mottle hen that was flown in the 1998 World Cup by Ron Moon.

i believe Eldon judged the WC and Monty won the fly that year. As far as how they did, the didnt as they never made it to the finals. Does anyone have a picture of 666 id like to see that excellent body type.

In regards to a photo of #666 Yellow Mottle hen 20ft-40ft, try contacting Dave Gehrke who published the Roller Journal in 2000. I think he still publishes the magazine.

Marcus,

I recall this bird. Dave featured her on his old website. This bird was a very typical John Johnson bird. I personally have not seen this bird myself besides the photo on Dave's site. I usually try to get out to Dave Gehrke's at least once a year. Last I there, I don't ever recall seeing any Dillutes in the birds he was flying. If I make the rounds down to Dave's this Sat. I'll ask him about the Yellow Champion Hen?

I am lucky to be so close to John Johnson. His birds are like peas in a pod and you can pretty much spot them on site.

Dave has a new website. I don't know why she isn't on there if she was that important? Dave also has a Roller book. I have it home and nothing is mentioned about her in his book either...
