Thanks all. She is from my Reed family. Yes she would be a grizzle white flight, she is the combination of white flight badge and I believe homozygous undergrizzle. Either way she is the coolest mottle roller I've ever raised.

Lets have some fun like Milo did a while back.
Lets hear what you have to say about her, what you think she is like in the air, etc, etc. This should keep us on the roller topics eh!

Refresh the page until you can see it Wayne. It does that to me too sometimes.
Scott, That is the only picture I kept. I will see if I have an original in the folder which hasn't been down sized. Might be able to zoom in on her melon. I didn't take one that way because she was being pissy and wasn't expressing her normal self, so I just ran with what I could capture.

Brian, answer to your other question by looking at her, I believe she is a stiff bird. The depth could be between 10-15 feet the most.

Well here it goes...LOL Given my unfamiliarity with that line it is simply a guess. Excellent body type, expression is brilliant. Not too deep, 25 max maybe, but stylish, fast, and med - frequency. Not a trigger bird, but a good individual. Again, the notable thing about her is how she carries herself, and yes, the photo might not be doing her justice.

-Hey Guys;
Anybody that would even attempt to judge a birds performance by looking at a picture, sure isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. It just can't be done.Ive had birds for over 55yrs and I wouldn't even hazard a guess.

I agree with Stan....I have seen birds that were identical, even to the point of full siblings, and were not even close as far as performance, but it is a sharp looking bird..Jerry

Stan, I don't believe there is anyone who can accurately guess a bird's performance, some can come close based on experience with a particular family, but it is more of a challenge to see what others see in a bird.
Keep um coming fellas.
Brian.

I agree.I could never look at a pic and be able to tell what performance it does. However these types of post makes me pay more attention to detail in someones roller and helps me to look closer at my own.I have noticed the more I pay attention to detail the more I learn.David

Ya, like saying others are smart or not so sharp...LOL There is something to be said about how a roller is built. All things visible, namely physical makeup can tell us if the bird has the ability. Keel length, shape, stance, and many other things can tell us right off the bat if a bird has the ability. Anyone with a a few years under their belt can make a simple assessment like that. Simply put, birds built correctly have the potential, but birds that are not built well, do not. I cull birds on looks alone - BUT never stock the ones I think are going to be good. Does that make any sense? I hope so.

Hey Brian,
Can you share the answers as to the replies of this post, as far as what people have stated. Are their guesses close to how the bird performs?..Jerry

Or.........we can wait and see how many other guesses we get.. :)

Stan makes a valid point, and I think that the new guys need to realize this.
With that said, unstable birds are pretty easy to spot , same with those that aren't built to spin hard , but there is always exceptions also.

Brian, this is just a guess , and I`m basing it on a bird that I raised a couple years ago with very similar coloring and build. The feathering looks to be very soft and not real tight. But the bird does have a nice typey build and head shape. I`m going to say it rolled 25 feet on average but wont keep it up in the second season. 10 to 15 footer after that. frequent enough though. but because of the feathering it looks a little sloppy in the roll. thats my guess... for what its worth.

Okay, here is the skinny on the bird.
Siddiqr was closest to getting it right.

This bird is about 8 or 9 months old and she is a stiff. I have never seen her roll..ever.
She only does real fast single flips.
Her good points are that she is one of those birds that is always seated in the center of the kit near the front, and more than half of the time, her little Flip causes the many of the other birds in the kit to break, or so it appears. She appears to set the tone for the kit with her slow flying. She is a top perch bird that doesn't appear to have a high metabolism, probably because she isn't rolling.
The reason I took this picture was because I have been watching this hen for a while.
Her father was a great spinner and was stocked because of it. Both of his parents were hot.
This hen's mother was one of, if not on occasion, the best bird I raised that year.
That hen's mother is my foundation Reed hen that was lightning fast and has three daughters in the stock loft.
That hen's father was a 778/991 bred bird that came into the roll at three months of age and to my surprise, was never a problem and just got better and better until I decided to put him away.
So what is so weird about this hen is that she is all roll, lots of roll all the way around her for generation after generation. And good roll at that! But she does nothing more than flips.
I watched her for quite some time and put some serious thought into it, and have decided that my gut rules and this hen will breed later this spring, probably back to her father. Since she was weaned I have always liked her type and even more odd sounding, is I have always enjoyed seeing her color in the kit box. I never get a mottle like this. A veteran roller friend was over a few weeks ago and when this kit lighted down on the roof, he commented to me that she was one hell of an awesome looking roller. I told him, yah, but she hasn't shown me sh!t yet. His comments were he would take a loft full of birds that looked like that. I wouldn't want a loft full, but I would surely like to see some more colored like that in my kit boxes. Call it an added bonus. So the end result is in a few months, if the falcon doesn't get her, she will get a chance to pop out a few youngsters to see if my gut was right. The best pairings I have ever had were gut pairings, so I feel confident this will be a potentially good choice.
Brian.

Brian.I bet in 2 or 3 months she will kick it loose. When she does start there will be no turning back for her.LOL.My old Pensom line were mostly all like this.Just flips untill around 9 month old and then one day just hit a 25 to 30 footer and just keep getting better.I just hate keeping a bird that long to see if its going to roll.
I really like the body style of her especially the head.David

Brian, she looks very stable and strong , I'm with Dave though , plus on a whole knowing that the Reeds carry alot of roll if not too much I think she will come in given time.

I would just like to make a point. It was just my guess by looking at the picture and what I got from Brain's message that what do you think of this bird by just looking at the picture "your best guess" now it is nothing to do with which family it came from and every one know (the guys with rollers for couple of years) that even best families produced roll downs, stiff, and good % of culls. You guys took the post in wrong direction. I hope you guys get my point.

Beautiful bird, Brian, both in type and feather color. I hope she comes through for you! Like Milo said, I hope you will remember her and keep us posted as to whether or not the pairing back to her father is productive.....could make us all think twice about some of our pairings.

Hey Brian,
SWEEEEET Hen. Hey let me ask you this just from a picture observation point. Is she shallow in the keel and is the length a touch short of the vent? I don't have grizzle factor in any of my stock but it is nice to work with providing of course it is performance based LOL. That and spread makes up a nice looking grizzle IMHO

Ivan, in the hand she doesn't have a deep keel, not by my standards anyways. I would say her shape is somewhere between apple and a flat keel, slight round at the front with good muscle, the quick to the vent, flush with the vent, not inside. Strong back muscle, more of a compact bird than you would think in a picture.

I know this is a old post in all, but I could not sleep.
