The Ruby Roller strain was started in Bellflower, CA. and has been found as far away as the Bahamas, Australia, Hawaii and Alaska as well in most other states around the USA. We are now exporting them around the world! Rather than me "brag" about my Ruby Roller strain, I thought I would add some comments from actual customers and others who have seen well bred and trained Ruby Rollers for themselves.

Here are some comments by experienced roller fanciers, and also the record of a some competition flyers who actually had success flying Ruby Rollers and some others who breed rollers for the enjoyment and satisfaction it brings when they are properly bred, trained and managed. I want to thank each one here for their feedback and comments.

Hi Tony, did good in the fall fly today. I was flying pure Rubys and Ruby crossed with Richard Apadoca's birds. Scored 263.64.All birds I raised out of the birds I got from you.

October 4, 2009

“I'm very pleased with the birds. This was my first comp fly. I was 1st place but someone scored 330 today so I sit in 2nd place in region 9G.They have 2 more kits to fly…

These were my breaks 6,6,8,7,8,5,5,5,6,6,5,5,8,8,10,5 quality 1.3 and depth 1.3 for a score of 263.64…Thanks again Tony, Brian Sappok”

Here are comments made by others who have the Ruby Roller strain in their lofts or seen them in the air:
steves birds
"Tony, The fourteen beautiful birds you sent me are doing fine and seem to fit right in with my others. The first group I got from you a while back have already exceeded my birds with velocity ,depth, and regularity. They are setting high bars and have actually increased the quality of flying of my birds

I am anxious for the new group to get a little older so that I can get them in the air as well. Each and every bird that I have gotten from you is dynamic in their appearance. An interesting observation I have made is how mellow they are in temperament. They just seem to quietly get along without each other and especially my mix of color birds

This now puts me in the thirty's so I’m already giving thought to an A and B kit. Thanks again Tony and especially when I have a question or problem. It's sure nice to have you to bounce things off of when I have a problem or question."

“…I purchased ten Ruby Rollers from Tony in 2004, when he lived in Bellflower Ca. I have been to his house on numerous occasions and seen him fly some kick ass kits. I have been breeding these birds for the past five years and I am very pleased with the results.

If you are looking for quality of the roll, speed and velocity you get all that in the Ruby Rollers. I have Rubys that roll from 15' to 45' with excellent velocity and quality.

My first competition fly was last year fall fly. I flew a mixed kit of 14 Rubys and 6 Norm Reed birds. I had 19 breaks scored a 189 and was the third qualifier for our region.

This year I stocked a lot of Rubys before flying World Cup due to bop and still scored a 88.91 with a young bird kit, flying at 200 pm in 90 degree heat.  I also crossed the Rubys with the Norm Reed birds this year and they are doing great thus far. So be your own judge. What works from some may not work for others.

“…I am here to tell you that this family is better than most that I have seen over the years. Regardless of which strain you are flying, you have to have weather and a little bit of luck on your side. Most of all you must have patience to let the birds develop. So put them in the air and let the birds do the talking. Yours in the sport. Mike”

“Il tell you something, 2 weeks ago we had our first club fly, one of our members, Robert Miller has quit a few Ruby Rollers in his kit. He had some pure Ruby and some half, man what a buetyfull kit, I think it was one of the best kits I’ve seen in a long time, the birds rolled with such good timing, not one bird rolled unless they where setting up for big breaks. I guess the Ruby rollers cross good with many family’s. Good job Tony..  Hector Coya-SGVS”

Fire Brewed Rollers

“I have had very good luck with the Ruby Rollers I have. My Ruby Breeders have 05, 06 & 07 bands. I have 2 lines of birds that I keep pure & I cross some. So I fly pure Rubys, my other line & crosses in my A Team.

My birds have a ways to go but I like what I am getting, they get better all the time. In the LA area it is very hard to move forward very fast because of all the BOP in the area. I lost over a 100 birds last year, even with locking then down off and on & 4 months of winter not flying.” Robert Miller  Fire Brewed Rollers  SGVS"

“… I've been flying Ruby's for five seasons and after choosing one pair from my test pairs through breeding and flying out their young I now have only the prodigy from that pair and a mating from another hen that was closely related but not the same as the first hen (foundation hen). All three birds have the blood of 644D and 620 in them.

I chose my foundation from the air and am producing birds with good form and easy management qualities. The young have progressed getting better each year and I am satisfied with my program. I received good stock to work with and now it's up to me to improve them or destroy them with bad selection or mismanagement. It's not about the pedigrees, it's about performance, and Tony's birds are a proper start. Thom"

“Tony, a little update.....my oldest Ruby that I am flying was ripping them off tonight at the tender age of 4 months. She was pulling the trigger about once a minute in the 15-20 ft range.........VERY nice. ----------Ron Borderline lofts”

“Hey Tony, Great looking birds! There expression screams they are loaded with roll. Your birds look to have a rounder forehead and shorter beak than some of the families I'm used to looking at.. Is this a trait you breed for, or is it just how the line has developed over the years? Or am I just seeing a trait that really isn't there? Distinct look in the Birds Tony, NICE.. KGB”

Joe Asaro

Hello Tony... I have had a big question mark on your birds answered this week that makes me want to hold on to the three young pair that I bought from you and breed. I have my family of Patrick birds that are pure and your family of Ruby’s that I will always keep pure.

Anyway, I have flown and trained them together and your birds have flown tight in the kit till they start rolling as young birds and I just keep them flying till other birds would start breaking from kit and dropping down with them.

Pulled them and would fly them by themselves, and at first they where all over the sky plus lost some to bop. Well have had the Patrick birds shut down, but have been flying the remaining six Ruby kit birds and for the last week of near hits of bop and weather, they started kitting well and the roll has always been there 15 to 30ft all 6 birds.

So I have nothing to complain about with your family. I got every thing you said of your family. I would recommend them for anyone starting in roller to advanced pigeon lovers.

Tony ...you are more than welcome to use anything you wish. P.S I had a person contact me and I told him more or less what I said to you. He thanked me and I told him to contact you and you would set him up three and three hens and cocks. Yours in the sport, Joe Asaro
